  Maria Rosa Bersanetti

Singer    
Maria Rosa Bersanetti was born in Torino where she studied
pianoforte and singing at the State Conservatory.
She received recognition for her interpretation of the
American lyrical repertoire and was a winner of national and
international singing competitions with her debut being at the
Imperia Theatre in the opera “Porgy and Bess”.
She has performed in numerous theatres and events including
the Teatro Marguerita of Genoa, American Embassy in
Pisa, the Savona Auditorium, the production of the opera “Il
Corpo e l’Anima dei Cavalieri” which toured throughout Italy
and France.
She has also been involved in productions of Mozart’s
“Requiem”, “Exultate Jubilate” and the aria “Ch’io mi scordi
di te”.  Since 1982 she has been directing activities at the
Tek Chok Sam Ling Institute of Healing Sound organising
classical western concerts, workshops and seminars and
preserving Tibetan culture.

  Tim Bruce

Actor    
Tim Bruce trained as an actor at the
Welsh College of Music and Drama in
Cardiff and as a singer at the Guildhall
School of Music and Drama in London.
He has studied various vocal styles with
Rudolf Remay, Mary Hammond and the
Roy Hart’s Nadine George.
He has also studied Indian classical
singing, firstly with Pandit Arun Apte
exploring the effects of ragas on the
subtle energy system and then more
recently with the celebrated Khyall
Masters Rajan and Sajan Misra.
Tim has performed all over the world
and has been teaching and practicing
Sahaja Yoga Meditation since 1987.

 

  Julie Cronshaw

Dancer    
Julie trained at the Royal Ballet School
and danced in companies throughout
Europe and the United States.  As a
freelance guest artist she was invited to
Russia to participate in the second International
Nureyev Festival with the Academic
Theatre of Opera and Ballet, Kazan,
in 1994.  She has worked as a choreographer,
ballet mistress and teacher for
companies and schools in California,
Washington State and Colorado.
Julie began attending Konstantin Pavlidis’
Dance Mastery classes in 2001 and later
that year was invited to join Unstructured
Light as a dancer where she has found
her own unique expression of the source
of movement.

 

  Jason O’Brien

Musician    
Jason O’Brien has studied Indian classical
music for 9 years in India and in the UK
A disciple of Shirish Kumar, he is a tabla
player but also plays bansuri (classical
bamboo fl ute) and various other instruments.
He has performed extensively in
South Asian theatre with sitarist Pandit
Baluji Shrivastav.  Jason has worked with
several Indian classical musicians including
Ashok Kumar Metta (bansuri) and Sukdev
Prasad Misra (Hindustani violin).
Currently he runs and performs regularly
at ‘Apsara’, an intimate venue for Indian
and World Music performances based in
Brighton.

 

  Jennifer Pearce

Pianist    
Jennifer Pearce studied piano and composition
at The Royal College of Music in
London and at the Vienna Academy of
Music. Her teachers have included Cyril
Smith, Walter Panhofer and Edith Vogel.
She has given numerous concerts chiefl y
as a soloist at numerous UK venues including
the Southbank, Wigmore Hall and St.
John’s, Smith Square in London. She’s also
played in Europe and the Far East.  These
days she is involved in various aspects of
music making, working with singers and
dancers, and devoting more time to composing.
In addition she has been studying
and giving concerts of the music of the
twentieth century philosopher / composer
G.I. Gurdjieff.

 

  Phuntsok Tsering

Musician    
Phuntsok Tsering is the founder of
the Thangtong Chen-Zen Theatre for
the Performing Arts and was a senior
artist of the Tibetan Institute of the
Performing Arts which was established
by His Holiness the Dalai Lama in
Dharmsala, HP, India.
He had inherited a lineage of Tibetan
Opera from a family of performers and
had been exposed to opera, dance
and songs from childhood.
Phuntsok has conducted research in
theatre, opera, songs and dances from
various regions of Tibet and has travelled
extensively in Europe (France, UK,
Spain, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, the
Netherlands, etc.) America, Mexico,
Japan, India and Nepal along with
other artists of TIPA presenting these
unique and colourful Tibetan
performances.

 

  Jocelyn West

Musician    
Jocelyn West, playing violin since the age
of six, studied with Suzanne Rozsa at the
Purcell School of Music and the Guildhall
School of Music.  Throughout her youth
she had performed at many venues for a
wide variety of audiences.
In the early 1990’s, she teamed up with
two female musicians to form the
“Miranda Sex Garden” a musical ensemble
which created popular versions of Medieval
and early music including Hildegard
Von Bingen.  This evolved into an Indie
rock band which produced a couple of
sucessfull albums.  She was also involved
in the film called “Lost Highway”, produced
by David Lynch in 1997.

 

  Brigida Pereira Neves

Dancer    
Born in Portugal, Brigida started dancing
at the age of three.  She studied locally at
Escola de Dança Ana Mangericão, until
she joined Rambert School of Ballet
and Contemporary Dance in London,
to train professionally.
Since graduating she has performed
with various companies:
Push Here Now, at Sadler's Wells Theatre;
as a soloist and principal in "Sleeping Beauty"
and "Swan Lake", touring the UK and Europe
with Vienna Festival Ballet; at the Royal
Albert Hall in English National Ballet's
production of "Romeo and Juliet";
and with English National Opera in
Anthony Minghella's rendition of
"Madam Butterfly".
It is the first time Brigida is dancing with
Unstructured Light playing numerous roles in
"The Labours of Hercules" and it has been an
extremely enriching and exciting experience.

 

  Francesco Mangiacasale

Dancer    

Francesco is a classical, and contemporary dancer.
He was born in Genoa (Italy) in 1977, and trained
locally in Ballet and contemporary dance at “Genova
dance school Koinè” (directed by Markus Zmoelnig)
and “Spaziodanza dance school” (directed by
Paola Pallotti from Rome Academy) with both
national and international teachers.
In 1999 he won an award at the Viterbo Dance
competition Italy.  In Italy he danced for Koinè
dance company, J. Nuova partenza, Aljat dance
company, Alcesti, Grand Bal (Paris), Balletto Italia.
In November 2002 he moved to London and studied
ballet with Mr Roger Tully.  He has since danced for
Rawhead dance theatre in “We Swung on the Swing
all day”,Worboys new dance theatre in “The fifth
Season”, British Youth Opera in “The Cunning Little
Vixen” (dancing the role of the Dragonfly), and for
Royal Opera House in “La forza del destino” and
“Maskarade”.  He has also danced with the Nottingham
University Opera group “San Francisco Xavier”.
Francesco joined Unstructured Light in its production of
"The Labours of Hercules" where he portrayed Hercules
and numerous other roles.  He found the entire process
extremely challenging, insightful and a powerful learning
experience toward his self and artistic development.

 

  Ginger Gilmour

Artist    
A self-created artist and an adventurer Ginger has
a vision to create forms and environments that touch
the heart of the community with the qualities of beauty
and tranquillity.
Born and brought up in the USA, she moved to England
in the early 1970s.  Her involvement with creative and
therapeutic arts began with analysis in New York with
Dr Werner Engel in the late 80’s.  Under his advice she
continued in Jungian Therapy in London with Dr Gerhard
Adler, and later his wife until the early 90s.  For over
ten years she trained in life drawing with Cecil Collins
at the City University London, and in sculpture at the
Rudolf Steiner Sculpture Studio in West Sussex.  She is
also a Mental Colour Therapist, training with Lily Cornford
for over fifteen years.  She has taught and practiced in
England, Switzerland, Italy, and in the USA.  Ginger was
a Trustee of the Mental Colour School of Healing, and
has recently been elected a member to the Fund-Raising
Committee of the Red Cross for their Gala Ball
‘A Celebration of Humanity’.  In addition, she was
nominated to be an associate member of the Society
of Woman Artists, London, UK in 2004 and her artwork
can be viewed at their yearly exhibition at the
Mall Gallery, London, UK.
Her association with Unstructured Light includes:
- Inspirational Arts Festival, London (1 May, 2006)
Sculpture in movement to Rumi poetry;
- Exhibition, Set Design and Masks for the Ballet
‘Sidera Herculana - the Labours of Hercules’ London
(3 & 4 December 2005).

 

  Maria Rosa Sapienza

  Hanif Khan

Musician / Tabla    
Hanif Khan is the son and disciple of the illustrious and
highly renowned master of tabla, Ustad Hidayat Khan.
He has inherited a rich legacy of gats and bols
(compositions) from his father under the traditional
Indian Classical learning system. Since a teenager,
he has toured extensively in small and large ensembles.
Although an accomplished classically trained tabla player,
earning the respect of both Indian classical and semi
classical artists, Hanif also has an expert touch for
the light genres including lok geet, bhajans,
folk and western fusion styles.
Currently Hanif is considered one of the top tabla players
in the UK and is a regularly sought after accompanist
at the Nehru Centre, Mayfair for visiting Indian artists.
Hanif's musical career has taken him across the world
both as an accompanist and solo performer.
This includes visits to the US, Canada, Israel, Jordan,
Belgium, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland,
Czech Republic and Spain.
He had joined UL in their most recent production of
"A Journey with Rumi" at the Inspirational Arts Festival
and intends to continue working with UL as a guest artist
toward future collaborations.
